Die Spannung steigt.

Samstag sind wir bei Engländern eingeladen. Dank der Zeitverschiebung ist das Spiel um 2:30pm und danach wird schön gefeiert und gegrillt. Kein Mensch glaubt, daß die Amis gewinnen...

Sonntag, gleiche Zeit, gucken wir bei uns. Das Haus wird wohl rappelvoll werden. Zum Glück haben wir 2 große Fernseher. Die Kinder werden in den Keller geschickt...Und auf der porch+Terrasse können alle Uninteressierten essen, trinken, schwätzen. Wir haben sogar eine australische Familie ausfindig gemacht, die wir beschimpfen können (und zum Schluß bemitleiden!)

House tour 2010

War heute morgen bei der alljährlichen Hausetour zu der jedes Jahr 5 tolle Privathäuser zur Besichtigung geöffnet werden. Waren wieder ein paar Hammer dabei. Soooo groß, mit soooo tollem pool und Garten....Wie so oft haben mir des Mobiliar, Dekokram und die Küchen nicht gefallen. Für meinen Geschmack meist altmodisch, zu dunkel, zu pompös, ungemütlich....Alle Häuser waren aber schön runter gekühlt. War wichtig bei den schwülen 32°C die wir haben!!

An authentically restored 19th century landmark home with rare elements including original stained glass windows, coffered ceilings, ornamental moldings, marble floors, deluxe kitchen and exquisite bathrooms is a must-see. This magnificent home located on Mountain Avenue, obscured by spruce trees most of its life, has undergone a complete transformation since 2006 when its original stucco sheath was removed. This charming shingle-style home ca. 1890 with classic front gable is registered on the Kimball Avenue Historic list. Originally featured in The Suburban, a stylish magazine from the 1940s, the house is punctuated by interesting moldings, including dental, throughout the first floor. Outside features a large outdoor patio with three lush garden terraces filled with perennials.

Another standout is a newly constructed owner-designed stucco and stone house based on a French Provencal castle complete with two turrets. The house is filled with handcrafted wrought iron railings, chandeliers, and exotic granite and features a Tuscan-style covered patio.

This classic Queen Anne Victorian Cranford home circa 1890 with authentic restorations earning commendation from the Historical Society is replete with delicate details and Asian artwork, artifacts and surprises, including treasures of Tibetan origin. The owners have made this river-side location where the Friends of the WSO will be serving refreshments to tour attendees all the more enticing with the addition of three water features including a koi pond.

Kunst

Dieser Kerl hockt jetzt bei uns auf der porch. Er ist aus Holz und ich will ihn demnächst irgendwie im Vorgarten hinstellen. Noch kann er nicht allein stehen...Er ist von einer Deutschen aus unserem Ort gemacht, die jetzt wieder zurück nach Deutschland zieht und nicht alles mitnehmen kann.
