Und schon wieder was gewonnen

Bei Trader Joe, dem Öko-Supermarkt im Ort, kann man immer an einer Verlosung teilnehmen, wenn man mit Einkaufstasche erscheint. Monatlich werden $25 verlost. Diesmal war ich die glückliche Gewinnerin! Nach 2,25 Jahren wurde das aber auch mal Zeit! Was kostet es eigentlich in Deutschland, wenn man eine Tüte käuflich erwerben will? 30 cent? Die wären hier entsetzt!

Dear Parents of Fifth Graders:

It must be hard to believe that your child’s elementary school experience is quickly drawing to a close! Before we send your child off to the intermediate school, we have a few final events planned. Many thanks to a wonderful committee of fifth grade parents!

· Wednesday, June 17 at 2 p.m. in the gym – Slideshow

The fifth graders and their teachers will have a special celebration time, a video retrospective of their years at Franklin School! The children will also share time with their friends and teachers signing their memory books. Parents are welcome to join us – please be seated in the balcony.

· Friday, June 19 at 9:00 a.m. in the gym - Awards Assembly

At this event many students from grades three through five receive awards for their performance in areas such as physical education, music, art and academic contests. Parents may attend and should be seated in the balcony.

· Friday, June 19^th at 12:30 - Clap-Out

When the fifth graders exit the building for the last time on June 19, the entire school will “clap them out” by lining the hallways and clapping as they take a final walk though Franklin. Please join us by standing on the blacktop behind the school. The children will exit through the same door they use to enter the building in the morning. The viewing area will be marked with cones. Be sure to bring your cameras, and tissues!

· Friday, June 19^th 7-9 p.m.– Fifth Grade Party

All fifth grade students are invited to attend the parent sponsored party at Roosevelt Intermediate School. Wear your T-shirts!

Life is a series of beginnings and endings and beginning again. As your child completes his/her time with us at Franklin School, he/she is prepared to enter a very exciting time of change and growth. It has been a privilege for all of us here at school to work with you and your child during their elementary years.

Sommer?

Das ist doch kein Wetter?! Es regnet, regnet, regnet..... Unsere bisherigen, diesjährigen Gäste hatten ja soooo ein Glück! Ja, und hinzu kommt die hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit, 95%. Und bisher war es wenigstens noch kühl (gestern nur 16°C), aber heute morgen meinte Marlon, draußen sei es wie im Schmetterlingshaus. Igitt!

Schultauglich

Trixi mußte heute in der Schule antanzen und vorlesen. Alle Kinder, die private Kindergärten besuchen müssen das tun. Der städtische Kindergarten testet intern selber. Sie hat bestanden. Konnte allerdings die Worte "bay" und "hay" nicht lesen. Das werden wir dann nochmal üben! (Ja, sie kommt in die erste Klasse!)

Das hab ich in nem anderen blog (nothingforungood.com) geklaut. Angeblich geben die Deutschen die Laute von Tieren falsch wieder!!!

NEW MUSEUM

Steffen und ich hatten Samstag ab 1:00pm frei! Wir waren in SoHo kreuz und quer unterwegs und landeten zum Schluß im New Museum (www.newmuseum.org) Klasse!! Am Wochenende darf man auch raus auf den Balkon im siebten Stock und von da kann man prima auf alle Dachterrassen glotzen. Etwas schräg sind die Ausstellungsstücke, Installationen und Videos schon. Ganz harmlos, aber sehr ungewöhnlich ist eine schlafende Frau. Da steht ein Bett mit weißer Bettwäsche und es schläft eine echte Frau. Sie nimmt vorher Schlafmittel. Es ist immer eine andere. An Tagen mit kurzer Öffnungszeit eine Person für 6 Stunden und bei 9 Stunden Öffnungszeit 2x4,5 Stunden. Sehr schön!
Abends waren wir dann noch auf Arne´s Fete in Jersey City. Die Strawberry Margaritas haben etwas gegen die Hitze in seiner (balkonlosen!) Wohnung geholfen.
