Dear Parents/Guardians,
Your child’s safety at Franklin School is our utmost concern and responsibility. As such, we have developed plans and procedures that are useful and sensible to the needs of the school community. Our crisis plan has been developed with the cooperation of local and county law enforcement agencies as well as state education officials. In the event that our entire school population needed to vacate the premises (for example, a gas leak), our evacuation site is Roosevelt Intermediate School. We would walk the children there and be seated in their gymnasium.
On Tuesday, November 24, we will conduct an evacuation drill to Roosevelt Intermediate School. We will walk to Roosevelt at 12:45 and return within an hour. Please be sure your children are dressed in sneakers, long pants and jackets. In the event of rain, we will conduct the drill on Tuesday, December 1, 2009.
The Police Department will act as our escorts for this drill as we cross Prospect Street, Clark Street and Dudley Avenue. The procedures for this process have been reviewed and practiced by the staff.
Please complete the attached permission slip and return it to school no later than Thursday, November 19, 2009.
